The House that Love Built: Ronald McDonald House Sparkling Art Mural

Last year I answered an email call to artists to donate art for the Ronald McDonald House of Maryland, a newly constructed home away from home for seriously ill children and their families. The theme was "all you need is love".  I instantly thought of my paintings 3 Dog Love and 3 Kitty Love, it was a perfect match.

I visited the ladies of the House in the Sparkling Art Mobile in downtown Baltimore to drop off the art.   Upon brain storming, we decided a mural would be a sparkling addition to the classroom in the stunning building not quite finished.  In a weekend in March, I stayed at the old RMH while painting the mural alone in the empty building waiting for its grand opening.  During my stay after work, volunteers prepared meals, kids played games and parents could be with their children in an inviting and comfortable atmosphere.  It was then I truly appreciated the importance of what they do at the Ronald McDonald House and how they care.

It was a labor of love to paint the mural and I hope it will bring a touch of sparkle and joy to the fearless children and their families.  Watch the video below to see the making of the Sparkling Art Mural.
